You Do You

During my daily scroll and troll of the old book of faces I came across a shared article about those suffering from anxiety and not appreciating being told to "chill".  This person who shared the article is well known in the jiu jitsu community, and in their words they "respectfully disagreed".  Nothing wrong with a respectful disagreement.  Then this person decided to give advice on how to stop anxiety and preach your ability to control anxiety through a variety of outlets.  This is where I respectfully disagree.

I am not saying that varying degrees of anxiety (General, OCD, PTSD, Social, and Panic) can not have symptoms eased by a better mind and body connection, exercise, or through a better diet.  But you cannot paint with a broad stroke.  I am saying this from someone who once painted with a broad stroke and got called out on it.

Now this person may have had some wonderful information to give to us, the reader.  I wasn't there to hear it, though.  You see, I have clients who I do not tell to "chill".  Anxiety, depression, being bipolar, etc.  These are lenses in which people see the world.  This is the world they are used to experiencing.

So. I humbly suggest that you view the world through different lenses.  Your experience is not their experience.  Guide.  Do not drag.  Let them be the hero in their own story.
